Kensworth Schoolboy Motocross Club held the first round of its 2009 club championship at the sun soaked Enstone track in Oxfordshire. A good turn out and very well organised event paved the way for some great racing in all classes.

In the autos young Ollie Hennessey set the standard with three very impressive flag to finish wins to secure his maiden overall victory in style. All the little guys were nailing it around this fast track with second going to Matthew Peck and third to Billy Rance.

In the 65’s it was a one horse race for the win with Luke Shearbrook taking top spot comfortably in each race. Thereafter the podium positions were wide open with Kristian Hutchings, Aaron Threader, Lewis Huckerby and Jayden Wooloff all riding flat out and finishing in the top three at some point in the day.

In the Small Wheel 85’s it was another Hennessey, Jacob that stepped up to the plate. Jacob put in three superb rides controlling the each race from the front for a comfortable maximum.  Strong performances were put in by Joe Tobutt, Nathan Shaw, Max Pinney and Tony Saunders who fought fiercely all day, eventually finishing in that order.

In the Big Wheel 85 class there was a titanic battle between two of the recently upgraded riders, Jack Gregory and Max Hind who both set a scorching pace. Jack won the first two motos by a whisker from Max who pushed hard all the way. In the last moto another rider, Ross Stout, upped his game and took the holeshot and lead for a lap before Max pushed pass to take the win and the overall victory. Young Jack went down twice in the last race, costing him the chance of the overall win. Ben Huckerby was always there or thereabouts but didn’t have quite enough to get on the podium.

In a large field of Youth125/250F’s three performances stood out from the rest, Tommy Meads, Ben Jeffs and Jordan Hind. Tommy kept a cool head and took two race wins and a second place on his 2 stroke. Ben narrowly missed the race two win after a fall on the penultimate lap, but made up for it with a last race win and second overall. Young gun Jordan Hind put three solid rides for an excellent third place in a very competitive field.

In a very fast under 35 Adult group, Paul had the “Edge” over Michael Mclurg, courtesy of his two race wins to Michael’s one. A very consistent Jordan Wright put in a strong performance in third place, particularly having only just upgraded from the youth ranks.

Last but not least was the over 35 Adults. A strong performance from David Dunn saw him walk away with maximum points. Richard Wright fought hard for second place.  Simon Sparrow, who had only been persuaded to come out of retirement a couple of days before had a very solid day in third – a bit more time on the bike will surely see him at the front of the pack.  A quick mention (& thanks) to the meetings sponsor, Keith Andrews, who finished in fifth place overall.
